More Little Things

Well I have to admit, I have been a little stirred up this week after hearing our nation’s President declare in a condescending speech to Israel that she must return to her pre-1967 borders. Wow! So much to write, I barely know where to begin! So, I will begin with saying, I love Israel. I have always loved Israel and I have watched her for my entire Christian life believing her to be God’s time clock.

Since hearing of Obama’s address to Israel, I have read several articles and I have tried to keep apprised of all that has been taking place. I have also kept up on Facebook, specifically because I am able to read PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s Facebook page to see his response. What a gracious, gracious man and a courageous leader for such a time as this; I will write more about Israel’s leader a bit later.

One of the articles I read this week was from the Jerusalem Post. The organization “United With Israel” had posted the article on Facebook. It makes several important and valid points. You can read it here: http://www.unitedwithisrael.org/obama-bibi/

To begin the downhill slide, Obama takes us into a full-fledged slam of Israel, the article states: “The Times also reported that the timing of Obama’s speech was planned intentionally to preempt Netanyahu’s address to Congress on Tuesday.”

Yeah, I can believe that; as I believe Obama has an agenda strategically planned and I believe it is one to try to influence our nation against Israel. This isn’t the first time Obama has dissed the Prime Minister of our long time ally. Remember when Obama left PM Netanyahu alone as he went off to dinner, because he didn’t like the fact that Netanyahu refused to concede to Obama’s demands.

But calling for Israel to return to 1967 borders is like asking this nation to commit suicide. It would, as PM Netanyahu has told the world, make Israel indefensible. Not to mention the fact that it would divide Jerusalem. Um hum…Jerusalem: Israel’s capitol which holds the Western Wall and other sacred landmarks. But Obama is just asking the little thing of allowing East Jerusalem to be turned over to the Palestinian Authority who is now governed by the terrorists group Hamas, who happens to be supported by Iran and Syria. Yeah…just a little thing…we all have an idea of what I think about little things!

Has what happened during the 6 day war of 1967 been forgotten? Talk about a God-thing! And yet I have heard no mention of the victory that gave East Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights back to the Jewish people. Maybe that’s because no one wants us to think about the “Land for Peace” Israel has since had to relinquish.

The article also states: “[Obama] called for a ‘full and phased withdrawal’ of the IDF to be coordinated with the Palestinians during a transition period with a clear duration and demonstrated security effectiveness." - The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is Israel’s strength. As George Washington, Ronald Reagan, and others have stated: Peace only comes through a strong defense. Obama is either clueless, or he is an enemy of Israel. - For his sake, I hope it is the prior, because Genesis 12:3 states: “I will bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you.” I don’t think he - nor anyone else - would want to be Israel’s enemy.

Just a few things Obama seems to be forgetting:
  • Israel won the 1967 Six Day War giving her back the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria. She has since had to give up some of this “land for peace” and her boundaries remain less than what is outlined In Genesis 15: 18.
  • Obama’s request goes against President Bush’s 2004 promise to protect and stand with Israel.
  • The Palestinian Authority is governed by the Hamas Terrorists group which is supported by Iran. One can’t concede to terrorists. Bibi Netanyahu knows this better than anyone! He doesn't need a lecture on peace.
  • Israel’s God-given right to the land as described in Genesis 15: 18 and other passages…which by the way, is, as already mentioned, now less than what God gave them.
  • Genesis 12: 3 speaking of Israel: “I will bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you.”
Mr. Obama should take a moment to read Genesis 15: 18 or Deut. 1: 6-8 to see Israel’s God-given boundaries. Then he should get out a globe (it must be a globe for the correct effect) and look at the tiny, teeny country of Israel as opposed to the whole world. Then he should question himself as to why this little teeny-tiny country is the talk, the concern, the burdensome stone of the whole entire world. Only God could use something so small for something so great. It is His time-clock...a visual for us. Next Obama should read Zechariah chapters 12 - 14. Upon reflection of these facts, maybe Obama would no longer side with the Palestinian Authority and the terrorists’ organization Hamas (which is indeed, what he has done)...but then again, perhaps he still would….

One thing is certain; Obama has made it abundantly clear to me how the USA will finally one day abandon our support of Israel, thus fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 14:2 which informs us EVERY nation will one day come against Israel. Yep, God’s time clock so that we can know the time is at hand.

Israel is surrounded by enemies. If ever there was a time to stand with her, it is now. I believe even those that are not Christians, and those that believe differently can understand the importance of standing with this ally. One has to ask, why in the world is this nation so hated? Why does she sit among enemies? There is just one reason. They are Jews. Why are the Jews so hated? It is all explained in Scripture. What an amazing thing that we can point to the Bible for the answer. God chose a special people. He had a purpose in this choosing; and to me it is nothing short of proof there is a God and He has a plan.

We dare not ignore this. Bible prophecy regarding Israel is one of the most powerful evangelistic tools God has given us. This isn’t simply about Israel…this is about God and His Son and the remarkable gift of Salvation. We look on the world political scene and we see Biblical prophecy being fulfilled. What an opportunity to answer those that might ask why. Check out that little speck called Israel there on a globe and consider how such a little piece of land, how such a small nation can cause so much commotion. It kind of gets your attention, doesn’t it? Consider how God uses the little things for something far greater. Israel and her boundaries are about a call to salvation to those who will come.
Isaiah 43:10 ~ Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no savior.
